Shiraz

2008 Tasting Notes

Margaret River Shiraz is renowned for being more northern Rhone in style. Lighter, more spice driven, delicate expression of the variety than the big concentrated fruit driven styles of South Australia. The 2008 Cape Grace Shiraz has lovely red berry fruits with underlying spice and a savoury edge.

The reds are handled in the old fashioned way; hand plunged 4 times a day during fermentation and basket pressed. This is a more delicate extraction of flavours and tannins. This means that the 2008 is perfectly drinkable now (best to decant), but you will be rewarded if you can tuck it away in the cellar for a few years.

The 2008 Shiraz aged 12 months in new and old French oak and has continued to age in the bottle. It will cellar up to 8 years.
